Measure the moisture before choosing equipment

A room can feel uncomfortable even when the thermostat temperature looks right. Humidifiers add moisture to dry air, while dehumidifiers remove it. The first step is understanding when the concern occurs and whether it affects one area or much of the home.

Atlantic Air can discuss humidity-control options alongside your heating and cooling setup. We consider the space, controls, water or drainage requirements, and routine care. Visible leaks or persistent condensation also need their cause addressed rather than simply adding another appliance.

Humidity concerns worth discussing

  • Indoor air feels unusually dry through the heating season.
  • Basement or living areas feel persistently damp.
  • You are unsure whether an existing humidity control works.
  • You want to compare room-based and whole-home options.

What the work
looks like

A clear look at your system, a conversation about the options, and a plan for the work ahead.

  1. Review the seasonal pattern

We discuss affected rooms, existing humidity readings, and what changes as the weather or HVAC operation changes.

  2. Assess the setup

Space, equipment compatibility, controls, drainage or water connections, and visible moisture concerns inform the plan.

  3. Set up ongoing care

For the agreed equipment, we explain operating settings, cleaning, replaceable parts, and what to watch for between visits.

A few things
you may be asking

Do I need a humidifier or a dehumidifier?

They do opposite jobs. Humidity readings and the conditions in the affected rooms help determine whether the air needs added moisture, moisture removal, or another issue investigated.

What humidity setting should I use?

The setting should suit the season, the home, and the equipment instructions. Condensation is a reason to review the setting and the moisture source rather than continuing to add humidity.

Will a dehumidifier repair a leak?

No. Dehumidification can help manage moisture in the air, but water intrusion, plumbing leaks, and other moisture sources require their own repair.
